Well folks the inevitable finally happened. Some lucky soul from the state of South Carolina won the $1.6 billion Mega Millions lottery. The winning number 5, 28, 62, 65 and 70, with a Mega Ball number 5, was drawn on Tuesday October 23, 2018. For most of us just another Fall day, but for the winner of the Jackpot it was a whirlwind of excitement and just utter chaos. The winner has not come forward yet, which is a good thing in my opinion. As I’ve suggested in previous articles, it is advised that the winner lay low for a few weeks to sort out their business. I will be somewhat disappointed, but not surprised, if within the next day or two, the winner reveals themselves on TV with the ubiquitous 3-foot check and a big smile on their face.
I’m not sure what the rules and regulations are in South Carolina with regards to making the winner’s name made public. It would be shame if the winner wanted to remain anonymous but had to reveal themselves because of specific laws. I wish the winner all the best and hope that they can remain somewhat sane and capitalize on this blessing …………. or curse. And if the winner does reveal themselves, I will be sure to update everyone on their name, phone number, and home address, just kidding!
